Painted in 1985, this image explores Matthews' fascination with the minute and largely unnoticed life of insects. A fly, a grasshopper and a couple of Katydids strike into a boogie at their local hop. The scale of the insect group is made evident by the inclusion of the cigarette end.
In recent years, a rather lively rock jig was composed to accompany this image for inclusion on the 'Trinity' album by Matthews and Jeff Scheetz with Oliver Wakeman. In reality Rodney himself takes on the role of both Katydids. Click below to hear a sample of the track:
