To the Isle of Avalon (Tales of King Arthur) original pencil sketch by Rodney Matthews
In 1994 Usborne Publishing commissioned Matthews to illustrate the book titled Tales of King Arthur. The Arthurian legends are closely associated with Glastonbury and the Somerset levels. Matthews often stood atop the Mendip Hills, gazing across the misty landscape towards the Tor. It is easy to imagine a surrounding lake.
