Electric Rock | VIP Night and Public Exhibition
2019 is set to start with a bang, as Rodney Matthews heads to the birthplace of heavy metal for his exhibition titled ELECTRIC ROCK; a monster two-day event celebrating over 50 years as an album cover artist.
This will be his first exhibition wholly dedicated to his long association with the music industry and it's going to be BIG! Matthews' complete repertoire of album art, that’s 140 (and counting) record sleeve designs are set to take over the entire Venetian Gothic-styled mansion on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th January. Original artworks, many of which have never been on public display, along with prints and other memorabilia associated with ASIA, AVANTASIA, MAGNUM, NAZARETH, PRAYING MANTIS (and so on) will be exhibited.
Want the full rock star VIP treatment? Then join Rodney on the Saturday from 7.30pm until Midnight. Upon arrival at the striking, Victorian Grade II listed building, you will be met with a reception drink. Then, you can soak in the atmosphere as you browse the larger than life artworks set against the lavish Arts & Crafts interiors of the Morning Room, Drawing Room, Breakfast Room, Dorothy Lloyd Room and of course the magnificent main hall, which takes in two storeys and is overlooked by the stunning minstrel’s gallery.
PLUS, joining Rodney for the evening are his special guests PRAYING MANTIS. Formed in 1973, the English melodic rock band have several Matthews album covers under their belts, including their most recent studio album ‘Gravity’ released earlier this year. The band will be rolling back the years with an acoustic live performance throughout the evening.
