Rivendell ~ The Last Homely House (The Lord of the Rings/Steve Hackett)

Painted in 1987 for inclusion in Matthews' calendar 'Wondrous Tales' for the following year; it is of course inspired by JRR Tolkien’s description from The Lord of The Rings.  The original artwork was sold in 1987 at the 'End-of-year Illustrators' Exhibition' at the prestigious Chris Beetles Gallery in London's West End.  The image was later licensed for the 2003 Steve Hackett Horizons DVD.
